BandWidth Monitor
BandWidth Monitor is a program designed to allow
you to monitor your bandwidth usage from a single network card. It will show
you Received Bandwith, Current, Peak, Total, and
Overall along with Sent BandWidth, Current, Peak,
Total, and Overall. The current bandwidth for each will be graphed individually,
over a 5 minute period, while the current total will be graphed over a 20
minute period. The peak indicated the highest about of data transferred within
a 1 second period. The Total is the data Received and Sent since the program
was started. The OverAll is the amount of data
Received and Sent since your system was started.
BandWidth Monitor can be run showing just the
data page or via the Options menu you can select to have the graphs displayed.
To view the full graph section you will need to have your desk top set to 1200
x 1600 or higher.
The graphs are beneficial in tracking how much bandwidth a
program uses, for example how much bandwidth is needed to play a online game, to how much overall bandwidth you use a day
and whether or not you may need to upgrade your connection. The graphs will
adjust between 5 Kb to 100 MB to that you can see the best representation of
your data flow.
Each graph will also adjust independently to that you are not
stuck trying to examine you sent under a 25 MB graph when the data sent is
under 1 MB. In the example above (Fig 3)
the total bandwidth is at 25 MB because of the 19.5 MB received peak and
the 641 Kb sent peak, the received graph is at 20 MB while the sent is at 750
Kb. The graphs will also self adjust to the high peak in the last 20 Minutes
for Total and the last 5 Minutes for Received and Sent.
There is also an option to Pause and Re-Start BandWidth Monitor along with creating a report of BandWidth Data. BandWidth Monitor
also contains a tool which allows you to monitor all port connection, to see
where and from where connections are made, and allow you to look for possible spyware connections.
